French style basics? Here is the latest version
Every year, fashion media around the world always have to study the French style in the same old way, but when it comes to French style, the stereotype of wearing navy striped shirts always comes to our minds.
It is said that the French style will never go out of style, but as time goes by, although it has not changed dramatically, it is changing quietly.
Cecile is a native Parisian woman. Her mother is a model. Influenced by her mother, she has been very sensitive in aesthetics and dressing style since she was a child.
When she discovered that women all over the world were so crazy about French style, she thought she could share her insights and experiences, so she started blogging, writing books, and working as a buyer in Paris.
In 2017, she compiled a new list of “Seven Parisian Girl Wardrobe Essentials”.
No striped shirts.
Her pictures aren’t very pretty, so let’s find a blogger in Paris to see if she would actually wear what she said!
The one I chose is Kenza, a Parisian blogger I like very much. Looking at her outfits is like listening to a smooth and soothing piece of music.
1. High waist pants
Indeed, in recent years, high-waisted pants have gradually replaced low-waisted pants, bringing a touch of classic and retro flavor. They can hide fat on the waist while lengthening the leg lines.
Whether it’s jeans
Or suit pants?
Parisian girls are embracing this trend.
How to wear it in a Parisian style?
Tuck your shirt into your pants.
2. Romantic Elements
Parisian style emphasizes unpretentious femininity and often draws inspiration from menswear, but no matter how obsessed with neutral items, large prints, florals, and Victorian-style skirts or shirts are always indispensable.
How to wear it in a Parisian style?
Pair it with short boots or white shoes (the same goes for Kenza paired with loafers)
3. Grid Elements
There is no need to say how popular the plaid element, which represents elegance and classicism, has been recently. Parisian girls are not resisting this trend. The plaid element is not limited to suits, it can also be used on pants and skirts.
How to wear it in a Parisian style?
Avoid being too serious and pair it with jeans, bright colors, and T-shirts.
Kenza likes to wear plaid pants with a cropped top
4. Bright colored shoes
It can be eye-catching colors or metallic colors, which can be paired with neutral-colored clothes.
How to wear it in a Parisian style?
Don’t pair it with other bright colors!
Kenza does practice this rule, but she usually chooses low-saturation colors, which can add a touch of eye-catchingness without being abrupt.
Like this pair of little red shoes
And these gray-blue shoes
Burgundy ankle boots
and champagne gold ankle boots
5. Lazy big sweater
This piece, which is both comfortable to wear and look at, is a must-have in every Parisian girl’s wardrobe.
How to wear it in a Parisian style?
Mix and match, pair it with a dressier skirt or pants, or with a sleek separate.
Kenza paired a large sweater with formal black pants
And sports casual pants
6. Jumpsuit
Parisian girls like clothes with a “history”, such as military uniforms, work clothes or sportswear. Jumpsuits were used as work clothes as early as World War II and the post-World War II period. When they entered the fashion stage, they were very popular among Parisian girls.
The silk jumpsuit in the picture above is from the French brand Hera, which is known for its jumpsuits. These ones are particularly beautiful.
How to wear it in a Parisian style?
Just add some elegant elements, such as a belt and high heels.
I think this striped jumpsuit Kenza is wearing is pretty too.
7. Fake fur
Now as calls for animal protection grow louder and louder, fashionistas are more inclined to wear fake fur in a variety of colors and styles.
How to wear it in a Parisian style?
Pair it with basic items.
Kenza looks even better with this sportswear.
In fact, every Parisian fashionista has her own understanding of basic items. I think the seven types listed by Cecile are indeed more in line with the times than the versions many years ago, so I share them with you.
I really like Kenza’s outfit and couldn’t help but post a few more photos.
